BAFE is the independent registration body for the fire protection industry. Registration is scheme-specific — Scope holds SP203-1 under ID 302560, covering the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems. Under the Fire Safety Order the duty to appoint a competent person sits with you, so using a third-party registered contractor is how you evidence that you met it. You can check our ID on the BAFE register in under a minute.
Your previous provider is legally required to hand over all system documentation. Scope carries out a full takeover visit — servicing, testing and asset-capturing everything before we assume responsibility. Your systems stay live throughout. Most clients find it far simpler than they expected.
BS 5839-1 recommends a minimum of two service visits per year for most commercial systems, with weekly and monthly testing by the responsible person in between. Our maintenance contracts cover this — with a compliance certificate issued after each visit and accessible via your customer portal.
